Meiyo Single Grain Whisky 17 Year Old is a distinguished Japanese whisky that exemplifies the craftsmanship of the Kumesen Distillery in Okinawa, Japan. Established in 1952, Kumesen initially focused on producing Awamori, an indigenous Okinawan spirit. In 1989, the distillery ventured into whisky production, creating a unique category known as Ryukyu Whisky by aging Awamori in oak barrels. The Meiyo 17 Year Old expression, distilled in 2001 and aged for 17 years in ex-bourbon casks, reflects the distillery's innovative approach to whisky-making.
On the nose, Meiyo 17 Year Old offers aromas of baked pear and a hint of sherry, setting the stage for its complex flavor profile. The palate is drying, opening with notes of cedar, chamomile, and hints of orange peel, golden raisin, and ginger. The finish is long and mouthwatering, with a lingering sweetness.
Bottled at 42% ABV, Meiyo 17 Year Old is presented in a sleek and elegant 750ml bottle that reflects the distillery's commitment to quality and tradition. The label features the kanji for "Meiyo," meaning "honor," a nod to the distillery's dedication to producing high-quality whisky.
This exceptional whisky is ideal for sipping neat, on the rocks, or as a base for sophisticated cocktails, offering a refined and memorable tasting experience.
