Blackened Rye The Lightning is a limited-edition Kentucky straight rye whiskey that showcases the innovative spirit of Blackened Whiskey, a collaboration between the legendary metal band Metallica and the late master distiller Dave Pickerell. This expression is crafted by blending ryes aged between 5 and 8 years, which are then double cask-finished in Madeira wine and Caribbean rum casks for 2 to 14 weeks each. The whiskey undergoes Blackened's proprietary "Black Noise" process, where Metallica's music is played to the barrels, aiming to enhance the interaction between the spirit and the wood. 

The 750ml bottle of Blackened Rye The Lightning features a sleek design with a green label, subtly emblazoned with "RYE THE LIGHTNING" on the back neck. The label's design reflects the band's influence, incorporating elements reminiscent of Metallica's aesthetic. 

On the nose, this rye presents a complex bouquet of aromas, including dried fig, hay, pinewood, pear, and rum cake. The palate reveals clover honey, mint, corn husk, sugar cane, walnut, and cinnamon, offering a rich and layered tasting experience. The finish is medium to long, with a warming rye spice complemented by hazelnut, brown sugar, and light seasoned oak notes.
